The art of luxury or the luxury of art ? This is the best way to define Bruno Moinard's style considering the extent to which this architect intrinsically intermingles these two elements and for whom luxury identifies itself first and foremost through a cultural approach.
Since 1996, his name is associated on a worldwide basis with the the Cartier fashion house, with François Pinault for the interior decoration of the Château Latour wine cellar as well as longside other prestigious cultural institutions such as the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the Carnavalet, Rodin and Cernuschi museums... His style imposes itself as « unpretentious, refined and elegant », rendering a minimalist modernity albeit conserving warmth; reflection of the creator himself. This discreet luxury is obtained through the perfection of the most minute detail -choice of materials , touches of warm colours – set in scenographies in which predominate the play of the veiled and the unmasked, implementing the much appreciated art of dissumulation, expressed through the sophisticated play of light and the effects of disproportionate volumes and perspectives thus attained. Bruno Moinard enjoys creating environments. He imagined for Cartier a new modernity with his « secretive walls », for Chateau Latour a subtle duality situated between an industrial location and a show room, and for the Musée des Arts Décoratifs he chose filtered light and glass cases.
For Bruno Moinard, this profession is a vocation he pursued since childhood. Architect, painter, scenographer, he sketches with his « high fashion » touch a wide range encompassing interior decoration, furniture, fabrics and lighting fixtures. This work , driven by his enthusiasm and curiosity resembles its creator - a singular man described as 'imminently sympathetic' humble, attentive and extremely generous; in all a sensitive person animated by his passion for Art .
